Build a Ribbon Motor that you can put into just about any side-address microphone chassis. The Ribbon Motor Kit is a complete kit and instructions for building the AUSTIN microphone element by itself. It does not include the microphone body, transformer or output connector. Best for DIY'ers who want to experiment with their own
chassis, or use as a drop-in replacement for an existing ribbon
microphone. |
The Model 1 Kit includes all the parts you need to build a complete
AUSTIN Ribbon Microphone.
You get simple,step-by-step fully-illustrated
instructions & video
tutorials
. Then you'll use the templates to assemble the Brass
chassis, wire-mesh grille and ribbon motor,
and solder the connector & transformer, to build yourself a professional
Ribbon Microphone. Specialty tools and templates
are included in each kit, but you'll need some basic tools like a screwdriver, razor blade and
a soldering iron. It can be assembled on a kitchen table
in 2-3 hours. All USA-sourced
parts!
|
The Model 2 Kit Pairs the high-end, USA-made Cinemag 9887 Ribbon Mic transformer with the Model 1 Kit. The Cinemag 9887 extends the frequency response on the low end, and gives brighter highs than the standard transformer included with the Model 1 Kit. Phenomenal for recording vocals and other full-range instruments like Piano and strings, without the brittle crispness of a condenser microphone. |
The Model 3 Kit adds the prestigious Lundahl 2911 Ribbon Microphone transformer to the Model 1 Kit. Like the Model 2 kit, the Swedish-made Lundahl transformer delivers a wider, flatter frequency response than the Model 1 Kit. The Lundahl 2911 is the same transformer used by other high-end microphone companies, and helps your DIY Austin mic to rival the performance of boutique studio ribbon microphones costing WAAAAAY more! |
